Who runs PlayTools?

PlayTools is an independent gaming-tools and gaming-guide site operated by Mustafa Bilgic, a solo founder based in Adıyaman, Türkiye. CinderSpire Studio is the studio brand under which the site is published. There is no team behind the brand; there is one operator. We say this plainly because honesty is the foundation of trust — we'd rather you know exactly who is behind a tool you rely on than have you assume there's a corporate team that does not exist.

What PlayTools does

PlayTools publishes free browser-based gaming utilities (dice rollers, D&D character builders, encounter calculators, initiative trackers, fantasy name generators, spellbook organizers) and gaming-gear buying guides (monitors, chairs, headsets, keyboards, streaming setups). The tools are built for tabletop and PC gaming hobbyists. Everything is free at the point of use.

Editorial standards

Our editorial standards exist because we monetize through advertising and affiliate links and want to be straightforward about how we earn money:

1. Tools accuracy

Dice rollers, encounter calculators, and initiative trackers are tested against the published rule sets they implement. For Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, we follow the official Wizards of the Coast System Reference Document (SRD). For randomness, we use the browser's crypto.getRandomValues() where supported and the NIST SP 800-90A guidelines as our reference.

2. Buying-guide methodology

Buying-guide rankings (gaming monitors, chairs, headsets, keyboards) are based on published manufacturer datasheets, professional independent review aggregators (Rtings.com, Tom's Hardware, professional gaming press), and consumer-reported reliability data. We do not test every product in person. We say so on each guide. Where a buying guide contains affiliate links (Amazon, manufacturer programs), we say so plainly.

3. Ad disclosure

PlayTools serves ads through Adsterra and may participate in programs from Google AdSense, Amazon Associates, and other affiliate networks. Ads do not influence our editorial recommendations. We label affiliate links and sponsored content. See our privacy and terms pages for details.

4. Updates

Buying guides are reviewed at least once per year (more frequently for fast-moving categories like gaming monitors). The "Last reviewed" date on each guide reflects the most recent editorial pass. Tools are revised whenever the underlying rule set changes (for D&D, when WotC publishes errata).

5. Mistakes

If you spot a factual error or an outdated recommendation, email [email protected]. We take corrections seriously and credit reporters in the page revision history when requested.

Why an independent operator?

Most "gaming guide" sites are owned by large publishing groups or affiliate-heavy SEO networks. There is room for a smaller, transparent operator who is willing to disclose limitations, link to better resources, and not pretend to have tested products that we have not tested. That is the position PlayTools occupies.

What we are not

• We are not Wizards of the Coast and have no affiliation with D&D, the Forgotten Realms, or any official tabletop publisher. We use SRD content under the published license.
• We are not a corporate publisher, a venture-backed startup, or part of an affiliate-marketing network.
• We are not a registered LLC or corporation. PlayTools is operated as a sole proprietorship under the studio name CinderSpire Studio.
